Water Treatment

Water Treatment

Based on strictly selected raw materials and through an industrial process of washing, drying and sieving, we offer a significant range of closely graded filter sand and gravel. Specific sand fractions play an important role in the purification of water to create drinking water, for instance as fine-grained sand for water softening. Treating wastewater, sewage water, process water and recreational water has also helped us to find specific applications for our sands such as water extraction and soil energy, wellpointing, groundwater sampling and the removal of iron from water.

Choosing the right size as well as the right high-quality filter media is critical for an optimally functioning filter system.  Thanks to our monitored production processes, our products always comply with your specifications, especially when it comes to the properties and composition of the material, the size of the grain or the toxicological and micrological aspects in the area of environment and health.

We can provide product certificate sand and gravel for the production of drinking water, certified by the Dutch test and research institute KIWA, including ATA  (attest on toxicological aspects). Filter sand complies with European standard EN 12904 (materials for treatment of water intended for human consumption - sand and gravel).

We have an extensive established network and supply our products worldwide.

We offer a range of minerals for water treatment, including:

Calibrated sand/ Filter sand

Filter sand and gravel is ideally suited for water treatment by careful sieving and a low uniformity coefficient. Calibrated sand can be used in various ways.

Standard grain sizes:

  • 0.2-0.5 mm
  • 0.2-0.63 mm
  • 0.4-0.63 mm
  • 0.4-0.8 mm
  • 0.5-1.0 mm
  • 0.63-1.0 mm
  • 0.71-1.25 mm
  • 0.8-1.25 mm
  • 1.0-1.6 mm
  • 1.4-2.0 mm
  • 1.7-2.5 mm
  • 2.0 – 4.0 mm
  • 3.15-5.6 mm
  • 5.0-8.0 mm

Fine-grained sand / Entzand

Used for water softening.

Filter anthracite

Filter anthracite is used in nearly all water treatment systems, particularly in multi-layer filtration, combined with calibrated sand. Filter anthracite is obtained based on a thermally treated lignite (type H) and a natural anthracite (type N), which is crushed and sieved.

Activated carbon

Activated carbon is a unique product that can bind various substances to itself through absorption. This product is often used for water purification.

The calcium carbonate Hydrocalcite can be used to adapt pH value during the process of water treatments. The product can be used in the purification of drinking water, wastewater, sewage water and process water.

Hydrolite Mg

Hydrolite Mg is a porous filter media that can be used for the neutralisation of industrial wastewater (process water) and the deacidification of drinking water.

Garnet sand is coloured pink thanks to grains from the mineral garnet. This product is often used for filtering purposes and can be used for water softening and water purification.

Pumice is a volcanic rock that is characterised by its high porosity. This contributes to the lightness of this product.

Hydrolite Mn

This material is used as a filter medium for the removal of manganese.

Juraperle is a filter material that is often used for:

  • The removal of CO2 and remineralisation of soft water
  • The remineralisation of distilled and/or reverse osmosis water
  • The removal of iron, magnesium and aluminium

Clay pellets (Mikolit, etc.)

Thermal conductors are added to this product to enable optimal heat transfer and the best possible seal. Clay pellets can be used for restoring clay layers in the soil

Also referred to as magnesium carbonate, this is used for the removal of manganese from well water.
