Industrial minerals are used as fillers or as a coating in paper, particularly printing and writing paper.
The use of minerals in paper production increases a manufacturing machine’s performance and fluidity, whilst the final characteristics of the paper (strength, whiteness, gloss, ink retention etc.) are largely determined by the blend of minerals used.
Our range of minerals for paper includes kaolin and bentonite.
Kaolin performs two key functions, firstly as a filler to both reduce costs and improve printing characteristics, and secondly as a coating to enhance a paper’s surface properties.
